KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (November 30, 2011) – A new board of directors has been elected to govern the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) and Sara Hill, a real estate sales representative with Re/Max Twin City Realty Inc. has been appointed president.
Prior to becoming A REALTOR® in 1994, Hill worked for many years with several local developers, in subdivision development and new home construction. Devoted and passionate about her profession, Hill has served as a director of the association since 2006, and a volunteer and committee member since 1997, serving on and presiding over a number of committees, including Professional Standards, MLS® Services, Finance, and Bylaw to name a few.
“I am delighted to be taking on this responsibility at this exciting point in our association’s history,” said Hill. “Next year we will celebrate our 75th anniversary, and we have some exciting plans to commemorate this important milestone. I see this as an opportunity to celebrate with the public the fact that REALTORS® have been serving this community for 75 years, and will continue to do so for the next 75 years.”
Joining Hill as officers of the Association are 1st Vice President Dietmar Sommerfeld of CBRE Limited, 2nd Vice President, Lynn Bebenek of Team Realty K.W Inc., Past President George Patton of Royal LePage Wolle Realty and Executive Officer Bill Duce.
New to the directors this year is Chris Kotseff of CBRE Limited.
Returning as directors are Horace Coelho of Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty, Ted Scharf of Royal LePage Scharf Realty, Roy Singh of Century 21 Home Realty Inc., Brian Spall of Re/Max Twin City Realty Inc., and Neil Strickler of Royal LePage Wolle Realty.
Established in 1937, the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) operates the local Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) and provides ongoing professional education courses for nearly 1,200 REALTOR® members who serve the communities of Kitchener-Waterloo and outlying areas. The term REALTOR® is a trademark identifying members in good standing of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) who provide real estate brokerage services in compliance with CREA’s By-Laws and Rules, the REALTOR® Code, and all applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations. The MLS® System of the KWAR is operated in association with the MLS® Marks owned by CREA. An MLS® System includes an inventory of listings of participating REALTORS®, and ensures a certain level of accuracy of information, professionalism and co-operation amongst REALTORS® to affect the purchase and sale of real estate.
